Family Support Network Counsellor

Wood's Homes is a leading mental health centre in Calgary, Alberta, dedicated to building good mental health and well-being in our community. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Network Counsellor to join our team.

Role Summary

The Family Support Network Counsellor will provide family support services to children and families in the care of Wood's Homes. This includes in-home support, school liaison, and community coordination as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional delivery of high-quality services and meet the requirements of our Health and Safety Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct program-related assessments and establish goals and areas of focus with families.
  • Advocate for families and support the development of a network of resources with the family, community, and other involved professionals.
  • Provide parent skills training and individual and family counselling.
  • Ensure the safety of all family members by intervening in crisis situations and providing follow-up care as required.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, case reviews, clinical rounds, and team meetings to ensure effective Family Support services.
  • Report workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents to their direct supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Degree in one of the Human Sciences, Childcare, or a related field.
  • Minimum two to four years' experience working with infants, children, and/or adolescents, and families.
  • Family and in-home support experience preferred.
  • Case Management experience is preferred.
  • Full, non-GDL class 5 driver's license and own transportation required.
  • Personal suitability.
