Job Summary:

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements and reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation and coordination of annual financial audit performed by the Auditor General of Canada's office, and oversee the financial reporting of 25 Local Housing Authorities across Nunavut.
  • Financial Management: Manage the preparation of interim, special, and specific financial reports for 3rd party funding, and provide advisory services and manage special projects.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise direct report(s) and provide training and coaching to departmental staff.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, or CA).
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience in leading and/or participating in the year-end financial reporting process, financial management information systems, and liaising with external and internal auditors.
  • One year of progressive managerial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages (Inuktut, English, and French).
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
