Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management - Serve as a trusted advisor and relationship steward, working alongside business collaborators and various lines of defense on operational risk issues. Cultivate relationships at peer or senior director levels within the designated business sector. Act as the representative for the Risk Governance team in business initiatives.
- Risk Evaluation and Advisory - Collaborate closely with business partners to proactively pinpoint risks and identify control deficiencies. Conduct thorough analyses of risk exposures, operational setbacks, root causes, and control weaknesses. Spearhead the evaluation and suggestion of self-reported irregularities to mitigate risks and rectify control gaps. Lead the Enterprise Risk Assessment initiative to ensure all significant inherent risks are recognized and align with CIBC's protocols. Provide expert guidance on risk and control topics to business partners. Engage in projects related to governance and regulatory compliance to uncover risks and control challenges.
- Control Framework Development and Oversight - Comprehend and relay control framework stipulations to business partners to ensure clarity and understanding of their implications. Supervise adherence to all CIBC control framework mandates, including risk and control self-assessments, scenarios, and key regulatory indicators. Direct the revision of operational, financial, and regulatory compliance controls. Propose the establishment or modification of critical management responsibilities or GRC tool control verification programs. Review outcomes of major management responsibilities and control verifications, recommending self-assessment of irregularities. Prepare and present governance and control reports to management regarding the business area portfolio.
