Key Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management - Serve as a trusted advisor and relationship manager, partnering with business stakeholders and risk management teams on all matters related to operational risk. Cultivate relationships at peer or senior management levels within the designated business unit. Represent the Risk Governance team in various business initiatives.
  • Risk Evaluation and Advisory - Collaborate closely with business partners to proactively identify potential risks and control deficiencies. Assess and interpret risk exposures, operational losses, root causes, and control weaknesses. Lead the evaluation and recommendation of self-identified issues to mitigate risks and address control deficiencies. Oversee the Enterprise Risk Assessment process to ensure all significant inherent risks are recognized and compliant with CIBC's protocols. Act as a subject matter expert on risk and control issues, providing expert guidance to business partners. Engage in projects related to governance and regulation to pinpoint risks and control challenges.
  • Control Framework Development and Management - Comprehend and communicate control framework requirements to business partners to ensure awareness and understanding of implications. Monitor adherence to all CIBC control framework requirements, including risk and control self-assessments, scenarios, and key regulatory indicators. Lead the revision of operational process controls, financial process controls, and regulatory compliance management controls. Suggest the creation or modification of significant management responsibilities or governance tool control verification programs. Review outcomes of major management responsibilities and control verifications and recommend self-assessment of discrepancies. Develop and present reports to management on governance and controls within the business unit.
