The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Bursar to join our team at Nunavut Arctic College. As a key member of our financial leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the college's mission and goals.
  • Manage the college's financial resources, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Lead financial planning and analysis, providing insights and recommendations to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with senior management and the Board of Governors to ensure effective financial governance and oversight.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, funding partners, and community organizations.

Candidate Profile

  • Hold a professional financial designation (e.g., Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant).
  • Have at least 5 years of senior-level experience managing post-secondary programs or leading a culturally diverse, complex organization, preferably in the public sector.
  • Possess a strong background in budget management, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of cultural diversity, especially the needs of special populations, with strong communication skills.
  • Be proficient in drafting complex business proposals, with knowledge of Inuit language, culture, and government policies considered valuable assets.
  • Ability to explain financial responsibilities to communities, including NAC Senior Management and the Board of Governors.
