Position Overview

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Supervisor of Capital Planning & Regulatory Reporting. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer in the areas of capital planning and financial oversight for the Corporation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts analysis and interpretation of corporate data related to financial strategies, capital budgets, and regulatory matters.
  • Develops forecasts to guide future capital initiatives, including generator replacements, power plant upgrades, and distribution infrastructure projects.
  • Leads financial analysis and reporting for regulatory submissions, including major project permits and rate applications.
  • Monitors and evaluates changes in legislation and regulations impacting the Corporation's financial and operational landscape.
  • Oversees the collection and consolidation of financial data to ensure accurate reporting of business performance, while developing key financial metrics.
  • Manages external funding opportunities, including grants, and prepares necessary reports and claims.
  • Ensures timely preparation and submission of all regulatory documentation.
  • Conducts cost of service studies and analyzes rates and rate adjustments.
  • Collaborates with senior management to aggregate and audit information for comprehensive business reporting.
  • Prepares briefing materials and correspondence for governmental representatives.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce with a focus on Finance or Accounting.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a financial or regulatory role.
  • Experience in preparing research reports, financial accounting, budgeting, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional designation such as CPA or MBA.
  • Experience in a regulated or utility environment.
  • Familiarity with the culture and language of Nunavut.
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, or French is an asset.

The position offers a competitive salary range and a northern living allowance, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. Subsidized housing is also available.
