Overview:
The Administrative Support Specialist at St. Joseph's Health Centre Guelph is integral in delivering essential clerical assistance to various hospital departments, operating under the supervision of the Manager. This role requires exceptional efficiency, organizational skills, confidentiality, and adept time management to foster a dynamic healthcare setting.
Core Responsibilities:
- Complies with organizational standards and protocols
- Builds cooperative relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Oversees daily operations within the unit
- Manages phone communications and inquiries
- Facilitates patient admissions and discharges
- Maintains organized patient records
- Processes requests and coordinates patient transport
- Arranges staff schedules and manages supplies
- Encourages a safety-first culture
- Supports organizational change initiatives
- Executes additional assigned tasks
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary diploma in an administrative field or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- A minimum of one year of administrative experience in a healthcare environment
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
- Customer service-focused
- A collaborative team player with the capability to work autonomously
Work Schedule: Flexible shifts including 4hr/8hr coverage for absences.
