Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bilingual Underwriter to join our team at Foresters Financial. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for reviewing insurance applications, assessing risk, and making informed decisions to ensure the financial well-being of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application Review: Conduct thorough reviews of insurance applications to identify potential risks and assess the applicant's financial situation.
  • Risk Assessment: Analyze data and information to determine the level of risk associated with each application and make recommendations for approval or declination.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective relationships with producers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and resolution of issues.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all application information and underwriting decisions in our systems to ensure compliance and transparency.
  • Consultation: Collaborate with the Chief Underwriter and other team members to discuss complex underwriting issues and ensure consistency in decision-making.
  • Legislative Compliance: Stay up-to-date on relevant legislation and regulations to ensure compliance with Foresters Financial's policies and standards.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in underwriting and risk assessment.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong background in risk assessment and financial analysis.
  • Education: Achieved AALU and working towards FALU/FLMI designations.
  • Skills: Strong medical and financial underwriting knowledge, experience with simplified issue and final expense type products, and knowledge of underwriting theory and principles.
  • Language: Fluency in both French and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to consult and communicate effectively with producers, clients, and other stakeholders.
