Underwriter, Regional Property Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join Definity Financial Corporation as a Regional Property Underwriter. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing, accepting, and declining moderate to complex new business submissions, within assigned underwriting authority.
Key Responsibilities- Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Assessing and evaluating the risk associated with new business submissions, including ordering of inspections, financial reports, or other underwriting information as needed.
- Negotiation and Communication: Negotiating the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers, both in writing and verbally.
- Production and Performance: Participating in production calls on brokerage offices, providing technical support to brokers, and actively participating in weekly internal production meetings.
- Mentorship and Development: Mentoring and providing technical support to less experienced team members, contributing to the profitable growth of the business.
- Market Knowledge and Visibility: Demonstrating a strong market knowledge and visibility in the industry, partnering with brokers to grow a profitable portfolio of business.
- Education and Experience: University degree or a college diploma, or the CIP designation, with a minimum of 3-5 years of Commercial Property and Casualty underwriting experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, professional, friendly, and courteous in all interactions, with strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: A team player adaptable to a changing environment, with a strong sales orientation and proven ability to develop and maintain positive broker relations.
