Senior Construction Estimator

Position Overview: As a Senior Construction Estimator within the Building Operations division at Pomerleau, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in fostering project growth and challenging conventional industry practices through your specialized knowledge and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preconstruction phase for substantial building and infrastructure initiatives, collaborating with various stakeholders to formulate detailed project plans, timelines, and financial projections.
  • Conduct meticulous quantity takeoffs, cost assessments, and value engineering evaluations to enhance project scope and financial efficiency.
  • Oversee the bidding process, which includes soliciting proposals from subcontractors and suppliers, assessing submissions, and negotiating contractual agreements.
  • Examine bid documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure precision and adherence to project specifications.
  • Act as the primary liaison for clients during the preconstruction phase, addressing questions, providing updates on project status, and offering cost-effective alternatives.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to define project objectives, goals, and design criteria.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks and opportunities related to construction projects, developing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance project outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments and feasibility studies to guide decision-making and project planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or College Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in preconstruction management or a lead estimation role, particularly in building and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software, project management applications, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Experience with design-build, construction management at-risk (CMAR), or public-private partnership (P3) project delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
  • Fluency in both French and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
