We are currently seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Construction Estimating Trainees within our Ottawa District, Canadian Buildings Division. This is a chance to gain valuable experience in the construction industry and develop your skills under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing comprehensive tender documents.
  • Collaborate with trade contractors and suppliers to gather information for project bids.
  • Develop accurate unit pricing and quantity take-offs.
  • Maintain and update request for information lists.
  • Gain a deep understanding of trade scope definitions and local market conditions.
  • Learn about various contractual terms and conditions used in construction projects.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a degree or diploma in civil engineering, architectural technology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quantity take-offs and unit pricing calculations.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction drawings.
  • A genuine interest in the construction industry and a willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with conceptual estimating principles.
  • Knowledge of different contract arrangements, such as Lump Sum, Design Build, Project Management, Construction Management, and Public/Private Partnership.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets and design software.
  • Prior field construction experience is considered an asset.
