Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Michael Page International Canada Limited. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in managing multiple tenders and being responsible for all aspects of the estimate and preparation for closing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Management: Review drawings and specifications to identify divisions of work, study plans and specifications to clarify location and document discrepancies, and confirm site visits.
  • Preparation and Organization: Organize plans and specifications for display, distribution, and posting on our website, complete pre-bid forms, and set up summary sheets.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Fill out bonding and insurance requests, solicit bidders, and prepare sub-trade request lists for distribution.
  • Analysis and Problem-Solving: Deal with RFI's internally and from sub-trades, log, and conduct cut and fill take-offs, excavation backfill, site servicing, and formwork and concrete quantities and pricing.
  • Project Management: Ability to work on unit-rate tenders, perform take-offs in direct relation to units, and attend site visits to take pictures, notes, and interact with owners and consultants.
  • Financial Management: Prepare preliminary tender schedules, review with the construction department, and prepare closing sheets.
  • Risk Management: Identify risk and opportunity avenues, and prepare tender forms in advance.
Requirements
  • Education: Engineering or construction management degree, technical college diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of preconstruction/estimating experience on large-scale projects, preferably with an ICI focus.
  • Skills: Proven ability to diagnose, analyze, and develop solutions to complex issues, analytical and strong problem-solving ability, effective verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
