Position Summary
The Child Protection Worker is a vital role within our agency, dedicated to safeguarding the well-being of children and families in our community. Reporting directly to the Children Services Supervisor, this position focuses on investigating reports of child abuse and neglect, ultimately aiming to provide support and resources that preserve family unity.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as an Officer under the Child & Family Services Act for the Province of Saskatchewan.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of children and families, utilizing the Ministry of Social Services' Structured Decision-Making process.
- Develop comprehensive case plans, documentation, and legal agreements in accordance with established Family Centered Case Management guidelines.
- Provide direct intervention services and implement problem-solving strategies to address identified risk factors within families.
- Collaborate actively with Prevention Services teams during family group conferences, case conferences, and case planning sessions.
- Effectively refer families to appropriate external agencies for specialized support, such as counseling services, addiction treatment programs, or child assessments.
- Prepare all necessary documentation and attend Family Services Court proceedings as required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and documentation.
- Exercise the authority to apprehend children when deemed necessary for their safety and well-being.
- Deliver informational sessions on ICFS services to community members as directed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (BISW) degree.
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to provide satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Record, and Driver's Abstract Clearances.
