Exciting Opportunity in Child and Youth Mental Health

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Woodland Wellness Centre is seeking a skilled Child and Youth Mental Health Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team in La Ronge, SK.

About the Role:

We are looking for a qualified professional to provide mental health services to children, youth, and families in our community. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in child and youth counseling, with experience working with First Nations people and communities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Counsel survivors of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, including residential school survivors and their families.
  2. Use knowledge of family violence treatment, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma treatment, and processing of negative emotions to provide trauma-focused counseling and trauma recovery therapeutic services.
  3. Assess and develop treatment plans for children, youth, and adults with trauma and PTSD.
  4. Facilitate support and therapy groups for children, youth, and non-offending caregivers.
  5. Evaluate the needs of the child and family and provide appropriate referrals and information.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely case notes and records of all client contacts.
  7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive support for children, youth, and families.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of three years of clinical experience in child and youth counseling.
  • Registration and good standing with a licensed Professional Association.
  • Experience working with First Nations people and communities.
  • Extensive training and experience in Critical Incident Stress debriefing (CISD) and processing traumatic experiences.
