About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Investment Oversight, to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our Asset Management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the investment activities of our clients and ensuring that our investment products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investment Oversight: Provide strategic and tactical direction for the oversight of all investment products offered through 1832 Asset Management and its portfolio advisors, with direct accountability to senior management, Investment Committee and the Independent Review Committee.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of investment mandates and investment advisory agreements for all products and their portfolio advisors, ensuring that they are in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Due Diligence: Conduct ongoing portfolio advisor due diligence regarding hiring/on-boarding and terminations/off-boarding, ensuring that our portfolio advisors meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Investment Analysis: Provide detailed investment analyses and insights, as well as accurate and timely performance reporting, for both internal and external audiences, collaborating with product, marketing and communications teams to provide key insights from oversight activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that our investment products and activities are in compliance with regulatory requirements, including those related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor Degree in an analytical discipline such as Mathematics, Commerce, Finance or Economics.
  • Experience: 10 years of experience in the same or similar field, typically at a senior level.
  • Certifications: CFA required, CIPM/FRM would be an asset.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with minimal leadership oversight.
