About the role
As a member of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, within the Corporate Enterprise Portfolio Management team, you will serve as a Financial Business Partner. In this capacity, you will assist in the synthesis and delivery of financial guidance to clients. You will act as a strategic partner, aiding clients in establishing moderately complex financial processes that yield business insights for improved financial and strategic decisions. You will cultivate and maintain a robust understanding of business operations through discussion and analysis, clarifying financial needs and earning trust as a business partner. You will also develop and implement various financial initiatives focused on process enhancement and performance measurement to effectively achieve finance and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a proactive business partner, comprehending the business strategy and delivering relevant financial insights on performance to facilitate decision-making. Foster a business-partnering dynamic, understanding both financial and operational needs while providing moderately complex analysis and guidance to clients, utilizing available systems, new technologies, and tools. Consult and share expertise with internal client groups, ranging from middle management to senior executives, offering guidance, advice, and recommendations concerning special initiatives and unique business cases while adhering to guidelines, policies, and risk management protocols. Provide counsel, recommendations, and coaching to clients in developing business and cost driver analysis, monthly forecasting, annual and 5-year financial plans, budget allocation and reallocation, business cases, and assumptions used in financial models. Support the development and advocacy of management reporting, financial modeling, and the implications of business strategies and policies by identifying emerging issues, trends, and opportunities, researching and analyzing their implications, and recommending solutions. Identify non-value-added processes and map improved processes, which includes assessing current financial processes related to financial infrastructure, controls, and financial model inputs and outputs to recommend specific and meaningful enhancements in efficiency. Coach and guide the development and documentation of financial plans, including, but not limited to, developing and monitoring moderate complexity financial planning models, challenging assumptions, and linking the financial planning process to enterprise-wide integrated planning. Apply a strong understanding of business performance measures and oversee the delivery of management reports containing quantitative and qualitative analysis, providing strategic insight into the underlying drivers of performance from operational and strategic metrics, key expense performance indicators, benchmark comparisons, and other variables, contributing to recommendations for senior management to optimize client performance.

Qualifications:

An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics, or commerce. A minimum of five (5) years in finance, business analysis, and strategic support. Knowledge of relevant financial, legislative, and regulatory environments. Understanding of financial statements and general accounting principles. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple ongoing and competing projects. Strong ability to prioritize and work in a multi-demand environment. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Demonstrated experience with various software applications and planning tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Excellent ability to gather and analyze information, synthesize key elements, and summarize recommendations. Bilingualism (English and French).

Preferred Qualifications:

An MBA or professional designation (CA, CFA, CGA, CMA, CPA). Experience with IFRS.
