Position Overview: Patient Care Aide

As a vital member of the healthcare team, the Patient Care Aide plays a crucial role in supporting patient care and enhancing the overall experience for individuals receiving treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the safe transportation and escorting of patients within the facility and to various departments.
  • Ensure examination rooms and other designated areas are thoroughly cleaned and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment as instructed.
  • Execute general service tasks, including the delivery of documents, answering phone calls, and managing photocopying duties.
  • Assist patients with changing into and out of medical gowns as required.
  • Communicate patient concerns and relevant information to the appropriate healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide Community Health Worker Registry.

Required Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with others.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role.
  • Proficiency in typing and organizational skills.
  • Competence in operating relevant equipment.
  • Commitment to fostering reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous communities.
  • Awareness of social, economic, and historical factors affecting Indigenous populations, along with knowledge of Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
