Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Dental Assistant to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will be responsible for providing daily supervision to dental assistants, coordinating schedules for dental professional staff, and ensuring patient charts are requested and completed in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Coordinate: Provide daily supervision to dental assistants, ensuring they are organized and equipped to perform their duties efficiently. Coordinate schedules for dental professional staff, prioritizing patient appointments and ensuring continuity of sequential appointments.
  • Patient Chart Management: Ensure patient charts are requested and completed in a timely manner, checking for completeness and following up on missing documentation according to procedure.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate changes in schedules to patients, staff, and other affected parties, ensuring seamless coordination of clinical operations.
  • Clinical Operations: Perform all chair-side duties of a dental assistant, maintain infection control, and assist with OR procedures as needed.
  • Departmental Statistics: Maintain departmental statistics and monthly statistics on dental clinic workload for budget purposes.
  • Software Management: Use computer software to maintain files such as supply lists and the denture waiting list.
  • Patient Education: Assist in creating patient information pamphlets and recruit patients for approved studies according to protocol guidelines.
Requirements
  • Education: Grade 12 graduation and completion of a recognized Certified Dental Assistant program.
  • Experience: Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration: Current registration with the College of Dental Surgeons of B.C.
  • Skills: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work well with patients and staff, commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
