Position OverviewAs a vital member of the Ta na wa Yúus ta Stitúyntsam̓ Rights and Title Department, this role reports directly to the Indigenous Monitor Program Manager. The incumbent will oversee the construction activities of the FortisBC Eagle Mountain Pipeline (EGP), which facilitates the transfer of natural gas from north of Coquitlam to Swiyat (the Woodfibre LNG site). You will collaborate closely with the FortisBC environmental inspection team to monitor construction activities, address concerns, and propose solutions. Acting as the representative for the Nation on-site, you will work up to 12 hours per day. The Lead Indigenous Monitor will also take on additional responsibilities in coordinating the Indigenous Monitors and liaising with the FortisBC Environmental Inspection Team. Necessary equipment such as trucks, iPads, and personal protective gear will be provided. Please note that this role requires pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, with random testing potentially required thereafter in the event of an incident.

- Highly organized with exceptional communication (both verbal and written) and time management skills, able to deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Team-oriented with a positive demeanor and the ability to facilitate discussions to resolve conflicts and reach consensus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including leadership, teamwork, energy, self-motivation, creativity, patience, persistence, tact, and conscientiousness.
- Experience with standard monitoring protocols and procedures is advantageous.
- Effective time management skills and a responsible approach to duties.
- High emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with Field Maps.
- Ability to engage with external stakeholders, including construction personnel and environmental or archaeological consultants.
- Leadership experience in managing teams.
- Willingness and interest in working outdoors on uneven terrain.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience and/or interest in environmental and cultural monitoring.
- Exposure to industrial projects and knowledge of Squamish Nation land and culture.
Compensation: $41.17 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
