About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Indigenous Relations to join our team at BC Hydro. As a key member of our Indigenous Relations team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with First Nations communities in the Southwest region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement BC Hydro's Indigenous Relations strategy in the Southwest region, including planning, regulatory issues, consultation, negotiations, and budget management.
  • Lead a team of Indigenous Relations specialists and provide guidance and support to ensure successful collaboration and cooperation across the organization.
  • Build and sustain a strong and collaborative team environment with a people-centered leadership focused on staff empowerment and development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with First Nations communities, including negotiation and agreement development.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to the team on Indigenous Relations matters, including project management, consultation, and negotiation.
Requirements
  • University degree (Masters preferred) in political science, community and social planning, sociology, communications, or business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including significant Indigenous relations experience in a business environment (public or private sector, preferably in a resource-based organization).
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience or equivalent.
  • Well-developed leadership characteristics and the ability to build solid business relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in persuasive influence, strategic planning, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
