Senior Archaeologist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Archaeologist and Indigenous Relations Specialist to join our team in BC. This role may be filled from this recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities- Lead archaeological field programs, including consultation with Indigenous communities, on projects located on Treaty Lands, Traditional Territories, Reserve Lands, Crown Lands, or privately owned lands.
- Develop and implement project proposals to grow our archaeological portfolios.
- Write technical archaeological assessment reports.
- Assist with project budget management, schedules, document control, and records.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of archaeological programs and services.
- Consult with Indigenous Peoples and communities in B.C. on archaeology projects, including developing consultation plans, identifying potential adverse effects, and identifying mitigation and accommodation measures.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to develop archaeological and Indigenous consultation strategies for environmental assessments, community engagement plans, and infrastructure development projects.
- Lead Indigenous relations engagement activities, including site tours, advisory committees, community meetings, and public open houses.
- Manage relationships with clients and Indigenous communities.
- Bachelor's degree and/or technical diploma in archaeology.
- 6 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to hold a permit to complete archaeological assessments in one or more B.C. Culture Areas.
- Experience with Indigenous consultation and engagement in B.C.
- Valid class 5 driver's license.
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Existing relationships with Indigenous communities in B.C. with an understanding of regional and community characteristics.
- Acknowledge of the unique historical, contemporary, cultural, and traditional characteristics of Indigenous communities in B.C.
- Experience working on large infrastructure projects in B.C.
- Experience coordinating with socio-economic, land resource use studies, and Indigenous Knowledge studies.
- Experience in business and client development to win archaeological projects.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if required.
