Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the overall solution/design, development, and qualification/certification of products to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead the Engineering Department

    • Plan, organize, direct, and delegate work within the engineering department to meet mission goals.

    • Coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams.

  • Manage Engineering Team

    • Identify and obtain required resources to perform required work.

    • Define goals and priorities for the team that translate the department strategies and objectives into a clear set of added value activities and projects.

    • Focus on customer satisfaction and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clarity, consistency, and communication of their requirements.

    • Monitor Engineering department performance (KPI) and adapt to meet set objectives.

    • Endorse and support the company commitments (technical, quality, schedule, and cost) through seamless service and risk mitigation in own area of responsibility.

    • Establish and maintain all required department working procedures resulting from regulatory/corporate obligations and responsibilities.

    • Evaluate and reward key personnel to foster a harmonious, responsible, and performing team.

    • Assess and develop people strengths and competences according to future business needs and individual career plans.

    • Uphold values and image of the company, especially reporting and disclosure.

    • Foster a health and safety mindset in the workplace and knowledge of health and safety requirements.

  • Coordinate with Other Departments

    • Evaluate feasibility and estimates in support of new business development.

    • Assist in the resolution of customer technical queries and problems.

    • Represent the company in product liability litigation.

    • Liaise with other key departments to provide support where required.

  • Manage AHCA's/Transport Canada Relationship

    • Create and maintain all engineering documentation required for compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements.

    • Interface with Transport Canada for all certification subjects.

Requirements
  • Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or equivalent.

    • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license.

  • Experience

    • 7 years' experience working in an Aircraft/Aviation Engineering role.

    • 3 years' Managerial experience.

  • Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities

    • Plan, organize, direct, control, and delegate the activities and operations of an engineering department, and meet associated mission goals.

    • Coordinate and review the technical work of the department or project teams.

    • Leadership skills.

    • Attention to detail.

    • Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and management.

    • Proactively address conflicts and problems.

    • Knowledge of and experience working with Airbus helicopters.

    • Knowledge of and experience working with Transport Canada Design regulations.

    • Provide support and expertise to manufacturing department.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • Hands-on approach to design.

Technical Systems Proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 pack/Google Workspace.

  • Understanding of design Software (CATIA).

  • Business management software.

  • Advanced computer skills.

  • ERP system experience – preferably SAP.
