Position Overview: Port Hawkesbury Paper is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to join our team. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, this role is pivotal in enhancing integrated quality and optimizing processes throughout the facility.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Chemical Engineering (P.Eng preferred, with consideration for EIT candidates) and have a minimum of three years of experience in a dynamic manufacturing or related industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and optimize daily processes, focusing on key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with operations to assist in troubleshooting daily challenges.
  • Engage with personnel across all levels to thoroughly understand issues, their site-wide impact, and the feasibility of potential solutions.
  • Plan and execute trials to gain insights and enhance process efficiency.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring of equipment and processes, utilizing simulation and data visualization tools.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting to identify root causes and implement actionable improvements.
  • Lead small-scale improvement initiatives aimed at driving cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and facilitate process safety assessments, including risk reviews.
  • Assist in updating P&IDs, managing changes, and refining operating procedures.
  • Identify and communicate any emerging safety or production risks.

Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Proven ability to work safely within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Effective change management skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Proficient in MS Office software.
  • Experience with PI Processbook, PI System Explorer, Power BI, and other statistical data analysis tools is advantageous.
