Position Overview: Port Hawkesbury Paper is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Process Engineer. This position, reporting to the Technical Manager, emphasizes integrated quality and process enhancement throughout the facility.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Chemical Engineering (P.Eng preferred, EIT candidates may be considered) and have a minimum of three years of experience in a dynamic manufacturing or related industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and optimize daily processes to enhance key performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with operations to facilitate day-to-day troubleshooting.
  • Engage with personnel across the site to fully comprehend issues, their implications, and the viability of potential solutions.
  • Plan and execute trials to gain insights and optimize processes.
  • Conduct proactive monitoring of equipment and processes, utilizing simulation and data visualization tools.
  • Perform detailed troubleshooting to uncover root causes and implement actionable improvements.
  • Lead small-scale improvement initiatives aimed at promoting cost-effective operations.
  • Prepare and conduct process safety assessments, including risk reviews.
  • Assist with updates to P&IDs, change management, and operational procedures.
  • Identify and communicate any emerging safety or production risks.

Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Ability to work safely within a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in managing change effectively with strong multitasking capabilities.
  • Familiarity with MS Office software.
  • Experience with PI Processbook, PI System Explorer, Power BI, and other statistical data analysis tools is advantageous.
