Position Overview

The role of the Financial Assistance Coordinator is pivotal in managing financial support programs, particularly the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) along with other equivalent provincial and territorial initiatives. Key responsibilities encompass the reception, modification, auditing, and assessment of applicant eligibility for these programs, necessitating the application of sound judgment in processing appeals. The Financial Assistance Coordinators collaborate effectively as a cohesive unit to deliver proactive, student-centered services across various channels, including in-person consultations, telephone inquiries, and digital communications.

Key Responsibilities

- Interpretation of Policies:

  • Proficiently interpret and apply Ministry policies and regulations.

- Eligibility Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of applicants to determine financial need.

- Appeal Processing:

  • Utilize critical thinking to make informed decisions regarding appeals.

The Financial Assistance Coordinators serve as a vital resource within the Student Awards and Financial Aid office, providing expertise related to both Federal and Provincial financial aid administration, as well as all available Student Award and Financial Aid (SAFA) opportunities.
