Healthcare Access Specialist

Position Overview
This role is essential in facilitating medical travel benefits for patients and their escorts. The incumbent will interpret and communicate entitlements related to medical travel, ensuring that all interactions maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Understanding the NWT Health and Social Services framework, including the Canada Health Act and regional geography.
- Providing clear explanations of medical and transportation terminology to clients and healthcare professionals.
- Utilizing knowledge gained from relevant educational backgrounds, such as healthcare or travel-related fields.
- Employing non-violent crisis intervention techniques when necessary.
- Engaging with the public effectively, drawing on 2-3 years of experience in healthcare or travel industries.
- Demonstrating excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, alongside proficiency in computer applications relevant to the role.
- Exercising initiative and strong organizational skills to manage various cases efficiently.
Qualifications
Typically, candidates will possess a high school diploma along with 2-3 years of direct experience in public-facing roles within healthcare or travel sectors.
Additional Information
This position is part of a term contract. Candidates must provide proof of a satisfactory criminal record check and current immunization status.
