Patient Access Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patient Access Coordinator to join our team in Fort Simpson. As a key member of our medical travel program, you will be responsible for interpreting medical travel benefit entitlements for patients and escorts, communicating with clients and stakeholders, and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret medical travel benefit entitlements for patients and escorts
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders to explain medical travel benefits
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to strict confidentiality protocols
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure seamless patient care
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the NWT Health and Social Services system, Canada Health Act, NWT geography and cultures, and transportation industry
- Stay up-to-date with medical terminology and air transportation terminology
- Provide exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent education
- 2-3 years of related work experience in healthcare or travel industry
- Direct experience dealing with the public
- Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques
- Patience, tact, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with current computer programs within the GNWT medical travel department
- Initiative, time management, and organizational skills
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary range: $38.05 - $45.44 per hour
- Annual Northern Allowance: $12,839
