About the Role

The City of Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Urban Planning Specialist to join our Planning, Urban Design & Sustainability team. As an Urban Planning Specialist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing policies and programs that promote sustainable development and reduce the environmental impact of our city.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and programs related to sustainable development, green building, and environmental sustainability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including city officials, developers, and community organizations, to advance sustainable development goals.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy decisions and program development.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including industry partners, community groups, and other government agencies.
  • Prepare and present reports, presentations, and other materials to support policy decisions and program development.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to city officials and other stakeholders on sustainable development and green building issues.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in urban planning, environmental studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in urban planning, sustainability, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable development principles, green building practices, and environmental sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
