Arcadis Canada is on the lookout for a Sustainability Specialist (Engineer, Scientist, or Biologist) to become part of our team in Vancouver, BC. This position is integral to our global business area focused on Resilience.
As a member of our Environmental team, your contributions will enhance the quality of life. With your expertise in environmental management or sustainability, your responsibilities may encompass areas such as protected species, pollution control, surface water and materials management, air quality, or noise assessment. You will work in some of the most dynamic and picturesque locations worldwide.
Our mission is to safeguard our natural environment and water resources while ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. We are increasingly witnessing the impacts of climate change, rapid urbanization, and biodiversity loss. The frequency of large-scale, unforeseen events like floods and wildfires is rising. Our goal is to protect our natural resources while supporting a sustainable future.
The Sustainability Specialist should be prepared to work independently in field settings for extended durations, including in remote locations. Additional relevant experience may include field biology studies, drinking water and wastewater systems, and environmental monitoring during construction.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting fieldwork, such as groundwater sampling and the installation of monitoring wells, soil characterization, and remediation oversight.
- Performing site inspections, Phase 1 Site Assessments, and supporting compliance audits.
- Executing aquifer testing, measuring water levels, and conducting elevation surveys.
- Overseeing subcontractors, including drillers and utility locators.
Additional tasks may involve:
- Data management and analysis
- Preparing reports, work plans, correspondence, and memoranda
- Estimating project costs
- Conducting research related to projects (historical data, regulations, etc.)
- Creating periodic status and program reports
A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental work experience.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing abilities
- Effective time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- A valid driver's license (work-related travel will be compensated)
- A commitment to Health and Safety excellence
