Job Overview

Reporting to the Aquatics & Recreation Manager, this position will oversee the organization and execution of activities in our Kids Drop-In Centre and Multi-Purpose gymnasium, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for children and teens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and enforce all rules and regulations in the Kids Drop-In Centre and Multi-Purpose gymnasium to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for participants.
  • Interact and engage with youth and teens, serving as a positive role model and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Prevent and resolve conflicts between participants during supervised activities, utilizing effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians before and after activities, providing updates and addressing any concerns.
  • Set up, put away, and organize equipment, ensuring that it is in good working condition and reporting any damage or missing items.
  • Occasionally assist with special events and birthday parties, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children in a sports and activity setting, such as a camp counselor or program instructor.
  • Knowledge of various sports and games, including basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, and dodge ball, as well as basic technical skills and rules.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification and recent Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Ability to organize and conduct sports and activities for children and teens in a safe and enjoyable manner.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and patient individual who can work effectively without supervision and remain fully engaged while working with youth and teens.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
