Job Summary:

Delmanor Communities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary services department, you will be responsible for assisting the Culinary Services Manager in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the culinary services department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Culinary Services Manager in developing and implementing menus, recipes, and food preparation procedures.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including the maintenance of equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, including cooks, dishwashers, and other support personnel.
  • Participate in menu planning, food costing, and inventory management.
  • Monitor and maintain food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Culinary Services Manager to develop and implement new recipes, menu items, and culinary programs.
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, including plating and garnishing.
  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory, supplies, and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Services Manager.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal Chef certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a retirement, hotel, or restaurant setting with large quantity food preparation.
  • Experience directing and supervising other employees.
  • Computer proficiency and good English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
