Job Title: Part Time Front Line Worker

At The Salvation Army, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part Time Front Line Worker to join our team at the Ottawa Booth Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to our clients and supporting the overall operations of the Centre.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Services: Provide accessible and available support to clients, identify their needs, and monitor their progress in working on goal plans.
  • Safety and Security: Implement emergency procedures as necessary, maintain radio contact with other residential services, and enforce Centre residency guidelines impartially.
  • Support Services: Maintain records, check facilities on rounds, and note maintenance concerns to the Manager of Residential Services.
Working Conditions:
  • This is a permanent part-time position working Saturday and Sunday from 7:30am to 4:00pm.
  • May deal with angry and abusive clients, encounter verbal abuse, and be required to deal with client overdose and other medical situations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Relevant post-secondary education in social work or a related field.
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with hard-to-serve populations with addictions and/or mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of client community, community resources, and experience administering Narcan and/or Narcan training is a strong asset.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Effective communication, both oral and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Some computer skills in word processing and database.
  • Bilingual (English and French) is an asset.
