Job Title: Front Line Service Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Front Line Service Worker to join our team at the Ottawa Booth Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will provide essential support services to our clients, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide front-line service to clients, including maintaining the security of the facility and its residents.
  • Initiate contact with clients, identify their needs, and gather information to assess further areas of need.
  • Monitor progress of clients in working on goal plans, follow established procedures, and refer to appropriate Centre and community resources.
  • Complete accurate intake and discharge procedures with clients as needed.
  • Provide emergency assistance, as required and appropriate, such as meals and clothing.
  • Accept and receive monies, donations, both cash and goods, with a focus on Men's clothing.
  • Attend staff meetings and case conferences, offering information regarding clients and service issues.
Working Conditions:
  • Permanent full-time positions working varied shifts, including evenings and overnight shifts.
  • May deal with angry and abusive clients, encounter verbal abuse, and be required to deal with client overdose and other medical situations.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Relevant post-secondary education in social work or a related field.
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with hard-to-serve populations with addictions and/or mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of client community, community resources, and experience administering Narcan and/or Narcan training.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Effective communication, both oral and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Some computer skills in word processing and database.
  • Bilingual (English and French) an asset.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
