Job Summary

BME, a Member of the Omnia Group, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead our Emulsion Production team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal delivery of products, compliance with safety and quality standards, and the efficient management of resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resource Optimization: Ensure that allocated resources (people, process, and material) are utilized optimally to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Plant Performance: Optimize plant performance by recruiting qualified, well-trained, and experienced resources within agreed budget parameters.
  • Production Planning: Plan, organize, and enable the production/plant team to ensure that all required skills and tools/resources are available to meet targets and schedules.
  • Training and Development: Ensure that training plans are implemented and managed for all team members in line with plant deliverables.
  • Operational Excellence: Accountable for operational excellence through focused management and measurable performance metrics.
  • Quality Control: Manage inventory of raw material inputs, production planning, and quality control.
Plant Safety and Security
  • Safety Compliance: Proactively work to achieve compliance with safety systems and ensure a safe workplace.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable HSEQ Performance Standards and site security program.
  • Safety Audits: Actively audit on-site safety in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Optimal Task/Plant Process Performance
  • Process Optimization: Ensure proactive management of resources to maximize operational efficiencies of production processes and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Critical Control Verifications: Perform Critical Control Verifications (CCV) and Safety System Shut Down (SSS) checks.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5 years of demonstrated experience in the manufacturing and production of explosives within a mining or resources industry, 3 years of demonstrated experience in people management, and 2 years of demonstrated experience in utilizing modern production process controls such as PLC and SCADA.

  • Communication: Ability to communicate technical details with all stakeholders, service providers, and management.
