About the Opportunity
The University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure-stream position in the area of Chinese Thought and Culture. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
About the Department
The successful candidate will be appointed to the Department of East Asian Studies, the Department of Philosophy, or the Department for the Study of Religion (or hold a joint appointment in two of the three units). The Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto is a leading institution in the field of East Asian Studies, with a strong reputation for excellence in research and teaching.
Responsibilities
- Conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level in areas covering Chinese philosophy, thought, religion, and/or culture.
- Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Chinese philosophy, thought, religion, and/or culture.
- Supervise graduate students and contribute to the development of the department's research and teaching programs.
Requirements
- PhD degree in East Asian Studies, Philosophy, Religious Studies, or a closely related field.
- Established international reputation and a strong record of research excellence.
- Experience in research supervision and teaching.
