Academic Instructor: History of Political Thought

Course Description: This course explores the evolution of political thought, focusing on the concepts and theoretical arguments that shape Canadian politics. Students will examine classical definitions of the political, conservatism, liberalism, socialism, anarchism, and communism. The course will also address the tension between individual and collective interests, decolonization, feminist challenges to patriarchal power, and the nation-to-nation relationship between the federal government and indigenous peoples.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, critiques, and evaluations
* Foster a respectful and inclusive learning environment
* Meet academic and curricular requirements and deadlines
Qualifications:
* Terminal degree in art, design, or relevant discipline
* Experience teaching at the post-secondary level
* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
* Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment
Terms of Employment:
* Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts
* Compensation includes a per-course pay scale with salary level of $6,871.00 (per 0.5 credit course) plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay
