About the Role
The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Provincial School Guidance Consultant to become part of our team within the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. In this role, you will be instrumental in executing the Comprehensive School Counselling (CSC) Framework aimed at promoting the well-being and academic success of students throughout the province. This position demands exceptional leadership abilities, a dedication to educational excellence, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the CSC Framework to improve student well-being and performance
- Work in partnership with regional and board teams as well as external collaborators
- Oversee the creation of resources and training programs
- Facilitate the recruitment and retention of skilled School Counsellors
- Support the implementation and evaluation of various initiatives
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a Master of Education or Arts in School Counselling, or a Bachelor of Education Degree complemented by relevant experience. A minimum of eight years of experience in a school setting as a School Counsellor is essential, along with a background in educational leadership. Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills are critical for success in this position.
Preferred Assets:
- Qualifications in project management and program assessment
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English
