About Our OpportunityWe are seeking a Provincial Learning Disabilities Consultant to join our innovative and dynamic team. As the successful candidate, you will lead the implementation of the Learning Disabilities Framework, resulting in increased student literacy and numeracy achievement and enhanced well-being for students in Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate to promote and enhance access to culturally and linguistically-responsive instructional practices
- Lead the development and implementation of research-proven resources, initiatives, and training opportunities as part of the provincial LD framework
- Examine academic, behavioural, attentional, organizational, social-emotional, and psychosocial features of learning difficulties and learning disabilities
- Work collaboratively with regional/board teams, including Learning Support teachers, School Psychologists, EECD colleagues, and external partners
- Assist in implementing and monitoring various initiatives in the areas of Literacy/Math/Behavior strategies, School Psychology, and the Tuition Support Program
- A Master Degree in Education plus eight years related experience, preferably with a focus on Diverse Learners, School Psychology, Literacy or equivalent
- OR A Bachelor of Education Degree or eligibility to be certified through the Nova Scotia Office of Teacher Certification
