About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a Provincial Learning Disabilities Consultant to join our innovative and dynamic team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of the Learning Disabilities Framework, resulting in increased student literacy and numeracy achievement and enhanced well-being for students in Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with regional/board teams, including Learning Support teachers, School Psychologists, EECD colleagues, and external partners to promote and enhance access to culturally and linguistically-responsive instructional practices.
  • Lead the development and implementation of research-proven resources, initiatives, and training opportunities as part of the provincial LD framework.
  • Examine academic, behavioural, attentional, organizational, social-emotional, and psychosocial features of learning difficulties and learning disabilities.
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring various initiatives in the areas of Literacy/Math/Behavior strategies, School Psychology, and the Tuition Support Program.
  • Perform administrative duties and related procedures, including researching, reviewing and maintaining data, correspondence, reporting, and carrying out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Master Degree in Education plus eight years related experience, preferably with a focus on Diverse Learners, School Psychology, Literacy or equivalent.
  • OR A Bachelor of Education Degree or eligibility to be certified through the Nova Scotia Office of Teacher Certification
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of successful and recent school-based experience in the field of learning disabilities, with a focus on Learning Disabilities or Educational Psychology, or equivalent.
  • Experience in an education leadership role (coach/mentor, consultant, coordinator, school administration, or equivalent) is required.
