Project Overview:

The Woodfibre LNG initiative is situated in British Columbia and encompasses the comprehensive design, construction, commissioning, and operational management of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility. This facility, built on the site of a former pulp mill, will feature a floating storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and aims to produce around 2.1 million tons of LNG annually.

Position Summary:

Woodfibre LNG is in search of a Project Director who will report directly to the Vice President – Projects. This role will serve as the primary point of accountability for the comprehensive management of the Woodfibre LNG Project, which spans multiple geographical locations, including fabrication yards and construction sites. The Project Director will engage extensively with internal regulatory and environmental teams, EPC Contractors, and external stakeholders, including equity partners and financial institutions. This senior-level position necessitates a project management professional adept at overseeing large-scale gas projects exceeding $1 billion from the Owner's perspective. The ideal candidate will possess strategic decision-making capabilities and exemplary verbal and written communication skills. The main work location will be in British Columbia, with business travel required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all facets of EPC project execution, including Safety, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Project Controls, Risk Management, Procurement, Contracts, Logistics, and Materials Management.
  • Ensuring compliance with the EPC Contract and other internal legal and commercial agreements.
  • Monitoring the performance of the EPC Contractor, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Facilitating stakeholder engagement with equity partners and various internal teams.
  • Directly managing the execution of the Owner's scope, including temporary marine facilities and external substations.
  • Providing precise reporting on EPC activities to all stakeholders.
  • Developing and implementing project-specific plans, protocols, and procedures.
  • Managing and applying lessons learned throughout all project phases.
  • Supervising team members through coaching, delegation, and performance monitoring.
  • Recruiting resources to ensure successful project execution.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Over 20 years of experience in major capital projects within the oil and gas sector, holding key roles in project management, controls, engineering, and construction.
  • Direct management experience of complex large-scale oil and gas projects exceeding $1 billion, executed by a tier 1 EPC Contractor.
  • A minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience managing diverse, multicultural teams across various international locations.
  • Experience with various contracting strategies, including lump sum turn key and reimbursable contracts.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in LNG projects.
  • Familiarity with Canadian oil and gas project management.
  • Knowledge of BC and Canadian regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working on the owner's team.
