Our IT Services department empowers the university to flourish and innovate through the strategic use of data and technology, focusing on enhancing the digital experience for students, researchers, staff, and external clients. We are expanding our team to develop new solutions and services that align with SFU's academic and research objectives.

Role Overview

This position provides extensive support to students, faculty, staff, and external clients regarding the audio-visual and computing resources available at the Vancouver Campus. Responsibilities include troubleshooting minor software issues and addressing equipment-related challenges. The role may require evening and weekend shifts, with the possibility of being called in on short notice to fill vacant shifts. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma along with relevant training in computing and audio-visual technology, ideally with at least six months of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

  • Proficient understanding of computers, operating systems, and servers.
  • Capability to operate and perform basic setups of audio-visual and computing equipment.
  • Skill in resolving minor software issues.
  • Ability to conduct minor repairs and maintenance on audio-visual and computing devices.
  • Familiarity with various hand tools, such as screwdrivers and pliers.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25kg.

Additional Information

This position is part-time, with variable hours up to 60 biweekly. Shifts may include mornings, evenings, and weekends with varying start and end times. There are multiple positions available.
