Role Summary

The Procurement and Subcontracts Specialist plays a crucial role within the dynamic team at Woodfibre LNG. This position entails direct oversight of high-value contract negotiations and procurement operations, which may involve commercial bid assessments, the formulation of negotiation strategies, and the review of contract terms and conditions, with recommendations presented to senior management for endorsement. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Procurement & Supply Chain.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected individual will be tasked with:

  • Engaging with essential stakeholders, including business users, to formulate a comprehensive contracting strategy that aligns with budgetary, scheduling, quality, and cost objectives to support project and business expansion.
  • Crafting negotiation strategies for high-value contracts and/or procurement tasks and leading or participating in commercial negotiations.
  • Overseeing the company's evaluation of commercial bids and terms & conditions, providing strategic recommendations to the senior management team.
  • Collaborating with internal project stakeholders to ensure prompt review and approval of all procurement and subcontract documentation, including purchase orders and agreements.
  • Monitoring contractor performance, reviewing, assessing, and facilitating the approval of any change orders submitted by contractors for high-value contracts and/or procurement activities.
  • Assisting in the establishment of procurement and subcontract processes, procedures, templates, systems, and reporting to ensure compliance with company policies and management expectations.

Qualifications:

Essential Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 5-8 years of experience in procurement and/or subcontracting for significant capital projects.
  • Previous experience in the oil & gas, chemical, or infrastructure sectors is preferred.
  • Proficiency in high-value contract negotiations is advantageous.
  • Ability to provide insights and justifications based on quantitative analysis and factual data.
  • Experience in developing robust and intricate financial models.
  • Strong communication skills, with the capability to prepare and deliver coherent and well-structured presentations to senior management.
