POSITION OVERVIEW:

The individual in this role will be tasked with researching, developing, recommending, monitoring, and executing specialized and technical programs for the organization. This position may involve conducting field studies and investigations that could affect SaskPower's operations and the broader province.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Collaborate with governmental regulatory bodies, community organizations, and interest groups to formulate programs aimed at reducing environmental and resource impacts from SaskPower's activities.

• Plan and execute program management, technical assessments, and environmental impact evaluations pertinent to the area of expertise.

• Serve as a subject matter expert, assisting in the creation of corporate standards and providing support across all divisions of SaskPower.

• Offer expert guidance and support to the organization.

• Utilize professional judgment to make informed decisions regarding mitigation strategies and preventative measures concerning SaskPower and provincial resources.

• Identify, investigate, and monitor emerging issues that may influence SaskPower's operations.

• Assist with environmental and heritage resource assessments for new initiatives and corporate projects.

• Represent SaskPower in working groups, community forums, and public discussions on relevant topics.

• Ensure compliance with all corporate, provincial, and federal regulations.

• Travel throughout the province as required by the role.

• Engage in ongoing education and professional development as necessary.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Bachelor of Science in Forestry, Forestry Resource Technology Diploma, Integrated Resource Management Diploma, or equivalent experience.

• Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) or Certified Utility Tree Trimmer (UTT), or equivalent credentials.

• Ability to obtain the International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist Utility Specialist (ISAUS) certification.

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant utility experience.

• Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal legislation, regulations, and acts.

• Proven research, analytical, and presentation skills.

• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities.

• Demonstrated organizational, coordination, and project management capabilities.

• Ability to take initiative and lead effectively.

• Capacity to forecast and predict budgetary needs.

• Valid Class 5 driver's license, as required for the position.

This position is within the scope of Unifor Local 649.
