**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Foreman, Park Services, the Operator III - Arborist performs a wide variety of work functions within Parks Services under the Public Works Department. The position uses safe work practices and procedures to carry out assigned tasks and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the work team.

**Responsibilities**:

- include, but are not limited to:

- Urban Forestry program maintenance and operations. This includes tree pruning operations (ground, aerial and climbing), tree planting, hazardous tree removal, and response to storm damage using equipment such as aerial lifts, wood chippers, chainsaws and pole saws.
- Assist Foreman with planning and taking a lead position in the Arboriculture program. This includes coordination of First calls for tree plantings, selection of species, ensuring Tree asset management program is updated and maintained, perform tracking and record keeping for maintaining overall City pruning schedules.
- Operation of light, medium and heavy-duty equipment in a safe and efficient manner used in the maintenance of trees and shrubs.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair duties on parks amenities and equipment.
- Cemetery interments, including the opening and closing of graves, cremations and the columbarium as well as assist with marking of graves prior to excavations. An understanding of Cemetery By-laws is required.

**Qualifications**:
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is common and frequent.
