Job Summary:

The Human Resources Co-op Student will deliver administrative support and ensure compliance with Human Resources Department policies and procedures through effective communication and employee engagement.

Key Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Co-op program in Human Resources Management or a related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with HR best practices
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with employees, supervisors, and managers to identify and address workplace issues through active participation on the production floor and various employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Martinrea Orientation Model Program for all new hires, including creating onboarding materials, preparing necessary documentation, evaluating applications, aiding in interviews, and completing onboarding checklists.
  • Ensure accurate entry of employee data into HR systems.
  • Facilitate employee onboarding activities, including onboarding plans and job-specific training.
  • Support the maintenance of communication boards.
  • Help update and maintain job descriptions.
  • Assist in organizing employee engagement events and oversee employee committees as needed.
  • Perform general clerical tasks such as copying, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Support the Human Resources Department in managing staffing forecasts, interviews, and the hiring process for various employee categories.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all relevant codes and company policies, including health and safety, quality, environmental systems, and HR policies.

Working Environment:

The role primarily involves an office setting (80%), with some exposure to the production floor (20-30%) where noise levels may vary.

Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
