Operations Support Supervisor

Position Overview

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Operations Support Supervisor to manage the Front Desk/Information Clerks, Stenographers, and Exhibit and Property Clerks at the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment. Under the guidance of the Manager of Police Support Services and general supervision of the Operational NCO, the incumbent will oversee, schedule, and direct staff involved in the Operations Support Unit. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all operational support services while maintaining a high standard of customer service and overall support.

The role requires adherence to RCMP procedures and policies regarding information release under the Access to Information Act/Privacy Act, safe handling of court exhibits and property, and transcription of statements. The incumbent will work independently and exercise sound judgment in daily operations.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Grade 12 diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a law enforcement environment, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is required. The following certifications must be attained and maintained:

  • Canadian Firearms Safety and Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety courses.
  • Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Special Provincial Constable designation for document service.
  • RCMP Reliability/Security Clearance.


Compensation and Benefits

This position is unionized, offering a wage of $41.31 per hour after probation, based on a 35-hour work week. The wage level is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
