Job Summary

Island Health - Vancouver Island Health Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Team Leader, Support and Community Services. This position is responsible for managing operations and staff in the delivery of pre and post analytical laboratory services at designated sites and facilities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously assess the quality of the service and implement improvement measures to provide quality customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative regulations, collective agreement provisions, and organizational policy.
  • Direct assigned resources, recruit, and supervise staff.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with technical, operational, and vendor staff to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Five (5) years' laboratory experience, with two years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of laboratory principles, procedures, and workflow.
  • Effective meeting management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with technical, operational, and vendor staff.

  • Knowledge and practice in effective problem-solving techniques.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal direct supervision with excellent leadership and organizational qualities.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-functional team.
