Operations Support Supervisor

Position Overview

The City of Nanaimo is looking for a permanent full-time Operations Support Supervisor who will manage the Front Desk/Information Clerks, Stenographers, and Exhibit and Property Clerks at the Nanaimo RCMP Detachment. Reporting to the Manager of Police Support Services and under the general oversight of the Operational NCO, the incumbent will supervise, schedule, and direct staff within the Operations Support Unit. This role is crucial for ensuring the effective functioning of all operational support services while maintaining a high standard of customer service and overall support.

The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring adherence to RCMP policies and procedures regarding information release under the Access to Information Act/Privacy Act, the secure handling of court exhibits and property, and the transcription of statements. The incumbent will work independently, exercising sound judgment and decision-making in daily operations.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Grade 12 diploma and a minimum of three years of experience in a law enforcement environment, including at least one year in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is required. The following qualifications must be attained and maintained:

  • Completion of Canadian Firearms Safety and Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety courses.
  • Designation as a Special Provincial Constable by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General for document service.
  • RCMP Reliability/Security Clearance.


Compensation and Benefits

This position is unionized, offering a salary of $41.31 per hour after the probationary period, based on a 35-hour work week. The wage level is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
