Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Finance Business Partner Manager to join our Management Analytics (MA) group within the Finance department. The MA team provides critical financial insights and information regarding performance, costs, and exposures to facilitate management decision-making at both departmental and total Fund levels.

Reporting to the Director of Finance Business Partner, the selected candidate will support private investment departments by contributing to the development of tailored reporting, analytics, and insights regarding investment performance, costs, and exposures. This role is designed to cultivate a broad network across the Fund to collaborate and fulfill responsibilities effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of financial and investment analysis concepts, complemented by strong analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance Business Partner to:
    • Assist in preparing financial analyses for investment departments, effectively communicating the narrative behind the data to stakeholders, utilizing data visualization tools and supporting analyses.
    • Enhance analytical capabilities to derive insights on departmental performance and resource utilization (workforce, costs, capital).
    • Coordinate across departments to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of information supporting financial reporting and analysis.
    • Provide guidance during the annual business planning process, aiding in the development of annual and long-term budgets that align with departmental strategies and expectations.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships within Finance and across departments; collaborate with key experts to drive financial analysis, reporting, and communication.
  • Foster strong working relationships within the team and across CPP Investments, including investment departments and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Address ad-hoc business inquiries to facilitate Board discussions, support evaluations of investment programs and strategies, and identify value-add drivers.
  • Actively contribute to the development and mentorship of junior team members.
Qualifications

We invite candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in financial analysis and reporting, stakeholder communication, team leadership, and project management.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; professional designations (CFA, CPA, MBA) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage and oversee multiple deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with experience in creating compelling presentation materials.
  • A commercial mindset combined with a natural curiosity to understand details, providing tailored solutions and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI is considered an asset.
