Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Manager to join the Finance Business Partner team within the Management Analytics (MA) group of the Finance department. MA delivers financial information and insights on performance, costs, and exposures to facilitate management decision-making at both departmental and total Fund levels through the Finance Business Partners.

Reporting to the Director of Finance Business Partner, the selected candidate will support private investment departments, providing insights to enhance reporting, analytics, and insights related to investment performance, costs, and exposures. This role will enable the development of a broad network across the Fund to collaborate and fulfill responsibilities. The candidate will need to possess knowledge of financial and investment analysis concepts, along with strong analytical and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance Business Partner to:
    • Assist in preparing financial analyses for investment departments to effectively communicate the narrative behind the numbers to stakeholders, utilizing data visualization tools and supporting analyses.
    • Support the enhancement of analytical capabilities to derive insights on investment department performance and resource utilization (workforce, costs, capital).
    • Coordinate within and across departments to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of information supporting financial reporting and analysis.
    • Provide guidance during the annual business planning process in developing an annual and long-term budget to support departmental strategies and ensure alignment with expectations (in the form of budgets and business objectives) prior to the fiscal year commencement.
  • Develop and nurture effective partnerships within Finance and across departments; collaborate with key subject matter experts to drive financial analysis, reporting, and communications.
  • Foster effective working relationships within the team and across groups at CPP Investments, including investment departments and the Office of the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Address ad-hoc business requests to facilitate Board discussions, support evaluations of investment programs and strategies, and identify value-add drivers.
  • Actively contribute to the development and mentorship of junior team members.
Qualifications:

If you possess the following qualifications, we would like to hear from you:

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in a role involving financial analysis and reporting, stakeholder communication, team leadership, and project management.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional designations (CFA, CPA, MBA) are considered assets.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage and oversee multiple deliverables within competing time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with experience in creating compelling presentation materials.
  • Ability to blend a commercial approach to decision-making with a natural curiosity in understanding details, providing tailored solutions and recommendations.
  • Proven experience in SQL, Python, Tableau, and/or Power BI is considered an asset.
